Conference Information
The Association of International Petroleum Negotiators in collaboration with Deloitte LLP, London and the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee, Scotland would like to invite you to participate in a roundtable discussion on the latest developments on tax-related investment disputes in the energy sector.

With the increase in investment disputes between host states and foreign investors over the years, tax-related disputes are also on the rise. This is exacerbated by a combination of the boom in energy prices (prior to the current global economic crisis) and resource nationalism on the part of many host states who sought to unwind deals made by previous governments. Most of these claims were filed based upon either an alleged breach of applicable bilateral or multilateral investment treaties or investment agreements. This workshop is aimed at updating participants with some of the relevant tax-related disputes not only in the context of investment arbitration but also in the context of double taxation treaties and EU law.
