Association Qualifications
Membership in the AIPN is open to all persons who are primarily engaged in professional negotiation work relating to the international mineral and energy industries outside of their respective home countries; or, those who regularly negotiate commercial transactions with industry representatives from outside their respective home countries.

Active Membership
Active Membership in the Association shall be available to professional international negotiators regularly and primarily engaged in direct negotiations work in the international extractive mineral or energy industries and also to those professional persons associated with international negotiations work relating to the extractive mineral and/or energy industries, but whose primary function is to assist, support, or enhance the negotiation of international energy or mineral contracts.

By way of illustration, but not in limitation, professional persons engaged in such supporting professions might include engineers, attorneys, geologists, geophysicists and accountants. Each active member applicant must be recommended by at least (3) Active Members, each of whom shall personally know the applicant and be willing to serve as reference on his behalf.

Student Participation in the AIPN shall be available to those persons who are enrolled in a college or university on a full-time basis in the study of any of the primary functions or supporting professions described above for Active Membership. Applicants for Student Participation status shall submit a completed application form bearing the recommendation of at least one (1) Active Member of the AIPN who is personally acquainted with the applicant; and shall furnish evidence of full-time student status which may be in the form of a letter or other school record from that student's college or university. Student Participants shall not be entitled to vote or hold office of any kind in the AIPN
