HOUSTON, Texas (Dec. 19, 2016) – The Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) will host the Second Annual AIPN International Petroleum Summit (IPS) May 15-17, 2017, at the Royal Sonesta Hotel located at 2222 West Loop South in Houston, Texas. This event also serves as a platform for celebrating 10 years of continuous publishing of The Journal of World Energy Law and Business. Published by the Oxford University Press, The Journal of World Energy Law and Business is the official publication of AIPN.

Combining the traditional AIPN Spring and International Conferences, the International Petroleum Summit offers a program of intense learning, business networking, and career enhancement. Highlights of the International Petroleum Summit include daily keynote speakers, updates on the latest global and regional industry developments, recent project case studies, sessions to strengthen negotiation and other commercial skills, fireside interview sessions, and segments to promote career growth and advancement.

“AIPN is building upon the foundation we established with the inaugural International Petroleum Summit in May of this year. We attracted more than 300 registered attendees for our first Summit, and we fully expect to see the same or even greater level of participation in 2017 as all of us in the oil and gas industry anticipate a rebound in 2017 and 2018,” said David Davies, president of AIPN. “The Summit offers our members, guests, sponsors, and media representatives a robust experience. We will have an extensive common area configured to maximize business networking opportunities and our program content will emphasize audience engagement on relevant industry topics, in-depth interviews with industry leaders, and interactive presentations.”

On May 15, the International Petroleum Summit will feature pre-conference workshops aimed at providing essential insights into negotiation skills, oil and gas asset valuation, and AIPN’s model form Dispute Resolution Agreement.; a Speed Networking Event open to all registered attendees; and a Welcome Reception. Due to time limitations, registrants must choose only one workshop to attend.

On May 16, Davies will deliver opening remarks in his role as outgoing AIPN president. Tim Martin, chair of the, The Journal of World Energy Law and Business Executive Committee, and Peter Roberts, general editor, will explain the history of the publication and its impact on the petroleum industry over the past 10 years. Conference sessions will be held throughout the day, with a Gala and Awards Dinner that night. A keynote presentation and conference sessions will continue May 17, with a wrap up hosted by Davies and closing remarks delivered by AIPN Incoming President Steve Otillar.

A full roster of keynote speakers, conference session leaders, panelists and session topics will be announced and registration will open in early January 2017. Attendees have the option to register for all or some of the AIPN International Petroleum Summit events. Fees vary for members and non-members and are based on the level of participation an attendee prefers.
