US Chapter Distinguished Negotiators Event

Ed Turner is a native of the United States, receiving his undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin in 1977 and his law degree at the University of Houston in 1981.  Since completion of his law degree, he has worked for Exxon Corporation and Exxon Mobil Corporation, primarily in oil and gas law, advising in the negotiation of and operations under petroleum contracts.  Since 1992, he has been involved in negotiations for oil and gas exploration and production rights in Africa, Southeast Asia, China, South America, the Middle East and the Mediterranean Sea.  Several of these negotiations involved areas where boundaries were not yet delimited.

Mr. Turner is a member of the Texas Bar and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators.

Eric Fry is currently serving as an Executive in Residence for the Energy Management Program at UT Austin’s McCombs School of Business and has over 35 years of experience in the domestic and international upstream oil and gas business. He was most recently Director International New Ventures for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for 6 years where he also led the International Negotiations Group, responsible for all non-U.S. negotiation activities within Anadarko’s international exploration portfolio. Previous to his experience at Anadarko, he was Director of Worldwide Negotiations for Pioneer Natural Resources, responsible for negotiating business development and commercial transactions relating to Pioneer’s international and domestic portfolio, including a three-year stint with Occidental Oil and Gas Corporation as Manager of Business Development.  He started with a 12-year career with Phillips Petroleum, working first as a Landman, and later as Senior International Negotiator, and Team Leader for the Unitization of Bayu-Undan Project in the Zone of Cooperation.  He has conducted negotiations and performed business development activities in North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.  Mr. Fry graduated from the University of Texas, graduating with degrees in Finance and Petroleum Land Management.  Since joining the AIPN in 1989, he has held many Committee and Officer Positions and was AIPN President 2000-2001. He has been instrumental in initiating and participating in the AIPN Student Outreach Program for the last twenty years.

Paul E. Feldman is a retired International Negotiator for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, where he worked for 43 years.  Presently, he serves as a consultant contributing his expertise for a variety of active exploration projects. His experience in International Oil and Gas commercial negotiations has involved serving in several managerial roles and as an individual contributor in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, North Sea, FSU and Latin America.

Paul has worked in over forty jurisdictions including, Algeria, Mozambique, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, South Africa, Tunisia, Eritrea, Nigeria and the JDZ, Republic of Georgia, China, Qatar and Colombia. The scope of work primarily involved new country entries including negotiations for Production Sharing Contracts, JOAs as well as various partner agreements from entry through production.

His experience in domestic US activities included the Rocky Mountains, Mid Continent and on-shore Gulf of Mexico, supervising lease acquisitions through production, and if applicable, unitization activities.

Paul is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington (BA) and the University of Arkansas School of Law (JD). He served a partial term as a Director of the AIPN and as a Director of the AAPL. Paul has three children enjoys travel, reading and spending time with his family.
