Webinar: "The Energy Transition - Comparative North Sea Approaches"

Joanne Edgeler joined the OGA in 2015 and is a Senior Investment Manager within the Investor Finance team. She has key responsibility for global investor engagement, in order to promote the UK oil & gas industry, the industry’s energy transition, and the role that oil & gas should play in supporting the UK’s commitment to net zero 2050.

With a leading role in understanding investor perceptions, mitigating potential barriers to investment, and promoting the importance of good corporate governance and ESG practices and principles, Joanne recently chaired the OGA’s ESG Taskforce to provide guidance to industry around the importance of ESG to investors, to secure future access to capital, and to continued investor confidence in the UK North Sea.

Prior to her time at the OGA, Joanne spent 17 years working in the UK asset management industry, at both Aberdeen Asset Management and Standard Life Investments (now combined under Aberdeen Standard Investments) where she was responsible for policy, investor relations and ESG.

Joanne lives in Aberdeenshire with her husband, and 11 year old twin children. She enjoys photography, reading and running in her spare time.  

Uisdean Vass is the Scottish co-ordinator for the AIPN and Managing Director at VassPetro Limited, Aberdeen. Uisdean is a prolific author and commentator on MER and has extensive experience in comparative petroleum regimes including the USA, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Offshore Canada and many others. He is qualified to practice in Scotland and Louisiana.

Liv Monica Stubholt is partner in law firm Selmer’s energy department and head of Selmer's ESG task force.

Liv Monica Stubholt brings both industry executive and political experience to the provision of legal services.  She serves as non- executive board member for a few select clients particularly the energy sector.

She has a long standing engagement in advising on the legal dimension of ESG and sustainability, including advice on framework conditions for the integration of the EU taxonomy and UN Sustainable Development Goals in business strategy and change management.

She has also spent several years as investment director and top industry executive in one of Norway’s largest energy industry players; the Aker Group.

Her accomplishments further include public office, serving as deputy minister in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and later as deputy minister in the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy in Norway.

She serves on the board of the international business alliance World Ocean Council, working for corporate ocean responsibility.

Jacob Sandholt provides specialized advice on sector legislation within the field of energy law across the value chain. He has a broad infrastructure and utilities experience, with particular expertise within renewables, energy and natural resources. Jacob has almost fifteen years energy regulatory, transactional and major projects experience.

Having previously worked for Energinet and Ørsted, Jacob has obtained in-depth knowledge of the energy sector and gained vast specialist knowledge of this field. Further, Jacob has also completed the LL.M programme "North Sea Energy Law Programme" at the universities in Groningen, Oslo, Aberdeen and Copenhagen.

Jim Christie has over 40 years’ experience in oil and gas construction and decommissioning projects.  Jim has worked across the world, but has more recently been based in the UK and Gulf of Mexico, focused on onshore and offshore decommissioning. 

Jim was the Global Decommissioning Projects Manager for Marathon Oil Company in Houston, with a world-wide remit, including the UKCS and Norway

Following his retirement from Marathon, Jim took up the role of Head of Decommissioning for the Oil and Gas Authority.  While there, Jim was responsible for chairing the Decommissioning Task Force, developing and publishing the OGA Decommissioning Strategy, its supporting execution plan, and updating the overall UKCS cost estimate. 

Jim currently works in an advisory capacity aiding both operators and service providers. Jim’s focus is on early planning, decision making, campaign developments, plus the development and implementation of execution and contracting strategies.
