Christopher Hayes hails from East Lansing, Michigan, U.S.A. and received his B.A. in International Relations from Brown University in 2003.  He continued his studies with a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2006, the same year in which he received a D.E.S.S. from Paris Université 1 – Panthéon La Sorbonne.  After joining the State Bar of Texas as well as the New York State Bar Association, Christopher worked as an associate in Houston for Bracewell LLP’s Corporate Group, with a focus on mergers & acquisitions.  In 2010, he joined Eversheds Sutherland’s Energy & Environmental Group, where his practice covered a wide range of transactional, litigation and regulatory matters, including representation of Transocean during the Macondo oil spill.  Drawing on his experience with rig contracts, Christopher accepted an offer from Chevron in 2012 to assist the newly formed Global Drilling & Completions Law Group in Houston.  In 2014, he was elevated to Lead Counsel for Global Drilling & Completions Law.  Last year, Christopher was appointed to the position of Senior Counsel with Chevron Asia South Ltd., where he supports upstream legal matters in Thailand, Myanmar, China, and Bangladesh.  Christopher also served as Chairman of the Chevron Law Function Diversity Council from 2014-2018 and is a member of AIPN.
